Introduction: |
In the Birth and Death Department of Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation, computerized certificates are issued. These certificates are distributed after registration through the computerized software Civil Registration System (CRS). From 1st January 2024, birth and death certificates will be distributed during office hours through Ward Offices 1 to 6, ward-wise. However, all corrections in birth and death records and the distribution of old birth and death certificates before 1st January 2024 are done at the Main Office, Ground Floor, Late Indira Gandhi Bhavan, Bhayander (West). Additionally, cremation/burial certificates are available at the Main Office 24 hours a day, including holidays. Cremation/burial certificates are also distributed during office hours from Ward Offices 05 and 06, Mira Road. |

Working System of the Birth and Death Department (Departmental Duties) |
The Birth and Death Department of Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation aims to promptly register every birth and death that occurs within the city. To ensure timely registration, a system has been implemented for the immediate entry of each birth occurring in government and private hospitals through computerized software. Additionally, proper instructions have been issued to all hospitals and clinics to ensure that every birth and death is registered within 21 days. To ensure that citizens receive birth certificates promptly, a Citizen Facilitation Center has been set up at the Main Office, Bhayander (West). |
Documents Required for Birth Registration: |
Births Occurring in Government and Private Hospitals: |
Births occurring in government and private hospitals are registered directly through the hospital using the computerized Civil Registration System (CRS). List of hospitals within the Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation limits. |
Birth Registration for Home Deliveries: |
In the case of home births within the Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation area, a letter from the Medical Health Officer of the respective area is required. A photocopy of the identity proof of the parents. A photocopy of proof of residence of the parents. |
Non-Availability Certificate (if birth is not registered): |
For births before 1965 – Form No. 10 (A) For births after 1965 – Form No. 10 (B) School leaving certificate Medical certificate Letter from the Police Patil (local village officer) |
Procedure to Obtain Birth Certificate: |
Fill out the application form for a birth certificate. Submit a declaration form (affidavit). Submit a photocopy of the Aadhaar card or other ID proof of the parents. Provide a photocopy of the discharge card from the hospital. |
Late Birth Registration Fee under Section 13: |
Within 21 to 30 days: ₹5/- under Section 13(1) After 30 days up to 1 year: ₹5/- under Section 13(2) After 1 year: ₹10/- under Section 13(3) |
Procedure to Obtain Death Certificate: |
Fill out the application form for the death certificate. Attach a photocopy of the cremation/burial certificate of the deceased. Attach a photocopy of Form 4 or Form 4A of the deceased. Attach a photocopy of the identity proof of the applicant. Provide a photocopy of the Aadhaar card of the deceased. |

Note: |
Before issuing any certificate, the event of birth or death must be registered in the birth and death register and computerized system. These registrations are carried out per the Birth and Death Registration Act, 1969, and the Maharashtra Birth and Death Registration Rules, 2000. Additionally, a cremation/burial certificate is issued to allow for the last rites of the deceased. |
