Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation Education Department

History & Establishment

📌 On 22/02/1994, 28 schools of four mediums (Marathi, Hindi, Urdu, and Gujarati) along with school buildings and 202 teachers were transferred from the District Council to the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC).

📌 On 28/02/2002, Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation was officially established, and later, on 21/04/2006, the Education Department was formally recognized in the Government Gazette.

Current Educational Infrastructure

📌 As of July 2023, MBMC runs 36 schools, categorized as follows:

Marathi Medium – 21 schools
Hindi Medium – 5 schools
Urdu Medium – 5 schools
Gujarati Medium – 5 schools

📌 A total of 8,845 students are enrolled from Class 1 to Class 10, with 151 teachers actively engaged in teaching.

Support for Underprivileged Students

Since most students enrolled in MBMC schools come from economically weaker and needy backgrounds, the Education Department implements various schemes to support their educational and qualitative development.

Inclusive Education – Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan

📌 Under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, the Education Department conducts surveys to identify children with disabilities (e.g., visually impaired, mentally challenged, hearing impaired, etc.).

📌 For students who cannot attend school, the Mobile Teacher Program provides door-to-door education, ensuring that no child in the MBMC area is deprived of learning.

School Nutrition Meal (Mid-Day Meal) Scheme – Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation

Nutritional Guidelines

📌 The School Nutrition Meal Scheme is implemented for students of Classes 1 to 8 to ensure their proper nourishment.
📌 Under this scheme, students receive:

Primary students (Classes 1-5): 450 calories & 12 grams of protein per day.
Upper Primary students (Classes 6-8): 700 calories & 20 grams of protein per day.
📌 The Central Government provides:
100 grams of rice per student per day for Primary Classes (1-5).
150 grams of rice per student per day for Upper Primary Classes (6-8).

Implementation in Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation

📌 The School Nutrition Scheme is implemented in 53 schools, including:

36 Municipal Schools
17 Privately Aided Schools

📌 Rice Distribution Per Day:

Classes 1-5: 100 grams per student
Classes 6-8: 150 grams per student

Process of Meal Distribution & Payment

📌 In urban areas, rice is supplied by the government under the School Nutrition Scheme, and ready-to-eat meals are provided to students.
📌 The school principals make payments to meal suppliers online, based on the daily attendance of students.
📌 The meal cost per student per day:

₹4.48 for Classes 1-5
₹6.71 for Classes 6-8
📌 Student attendance and meal distribution are recorded through the D.M. App, and beneficiaries receive their honorarium via an online system.
📌 The Director of Education, Pune, ensures honorarium is deposited into school accounts through the online system based on attendance.

Covid-19 Impact & Special Measures

📌 Due to the Covid-19 lockdown (March 23, 2020), all schools were closed.
📌 As per government guidelines, the remaining rice and other grains (moong dal, gram, masur dal) were distributed to students/parents under the School Nutrition Scheme.

Objective of the scheme-

1) Increasing enrollment in primary schools

2) Increasing student attendance

3) The objective of this scheme is to provide the benefits of School Nutrition Scheme to all eligible beneficiaries.

4) Focusing students on their studies

5) Instructions have been given to the school principals and all concerned to take action as per the government directives regarding providing the benefits of the scheme to all beneficiaries.

Special Teaching :-

Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation Education Board Students studying in municipal schools are children who come from poor and vulnerable backgrounds to study. They need special attention. The government and Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation Education Board run initiatives for these students from time to time. So that these children do not fall behind in any way compared to children studying in other schools, they are provided with all kinds of education and educational materials required for it free of cost. In order not to lag behind in the world of modern technology, all students are provided with free computer education. Also, all schools in Mira-Bhayander area pay special attention to the students studying in their schools and develop them academically and qualitatively. Due to this, children develop a love for education and today almost no student in Mira-Bhayander city is deprived of education.

The Government of India has launched a comprehensive and integrated scheme called Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan for the universalization of primary education in the country through a mission approach. Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, launched by the Government of Maharashtra and with the participation of local self-government bodies, is a good scheme and its main objective is to provide useful and adequate education to all children in the age group of 6 to 14, provide quality education to children, increase the attendance of children and maintain 100% enrolment of children. Various activities are being implemented under this scheme, mainly teacher training, NPEGEL for girls, disability inclusive education for children with special needs (handicapped) and disability inclusive education.

According to the Government's Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, general students and students with special needs (disabled students) aged 6 to 14 are given admission to schools at any age equivalent to their nearest equivalent age and are provided with the right and opportunity to learn in the classroom. All disabled students in Mira-Bhayander city are provided special education by bringing them to schools under the Disability Inclusive Education initiative or by visiting special needs students at their homes. Different activities are being implemented for these students and special teachers have been appointed for this. Muscle and joint defects are found in mentally retarded, multi-disabled, Cerebral Palsy, osteophytes, and children who have undergone surgery. These students are given appropriate treatment in hospitals.

From an educational perspective, psychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech therapists have been appointed for basic psychological assessment and certification, educational options according to their abilities and regular school education according to educational options, school readiness and step-by-step schooling through home guidance, textbook-based changes and preparation of easy-to-follow courses according to the abilities of students, production of educational materials according to the curriculum, use of educational materials and changes in technology over time, improvement in teaching and learning activities accordingly, as well as curriculum-based oral and written question samples and question-based assessment methods for competency-based assessment, etc.

The work of providing therapy to children with special needs who need physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy has been started at Municipal School No. 13, Navghar Marathi, Bhayander (East). Arrangements have been made at Municipal School No. 13, Navghar Marathi to provide therapy to children who need therapy. Also, to keep students with special needs in regular schools and to get quality education, an information form and a request form for requesting services for educational support services provided according to the needs of the children have been published. Student and Parent Support

Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation Education Board provides good and modern education to the students. The municipal corporation provides computer education to the school students free of cost. Since their children are getting good quality education, the parents and the city representatives are satisfied and also provide their invaluable cooperation to the education board for the education sector. From now on, we want to take them along and implement various new and useful activities for the students in the schools in today's modern world. If the residents of Mira-Bhayander city have any complaints about schools or education, they can come to the education board office and complain. The school administrators, principals or teachers of the school with the complaint are redressed by the education board members along with the administration officer.

School Admission - Terms and Conditions : -

For admission of children in the Municipal School run by Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation Education Board, free admission application is filled from the parents at the school level under the Mumbai Primary Education Act 1949. Parents who have the birth certificate or school leaving certificate of the students are given admission in that class according to that. Also, under the Government's Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009, if an out-of-school student is admitted to the appropriate class according to his age or by taking his examination, he is provided with an opportunity for education. For this, free admission is given without charging any fee.

Also, if a student from another state or district wants admission, his school leaving certificate is checked and if it is signed by the education officer of the said district, then with the approval of the administration officer, the said student is given admission to a school under the jurisdiction of Mira-Bhainar Municipal Corporation Education Board. While giving admission to a permanent unaided school, the first school admission application is given. Then the students are admitted.

Every child is important.

There are a total of 35 municipal schools, 20 private aided schools and 9 private unaided schools in the jurisdiction of Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation Education Board. Students studying in municipal schools are children who come from poor and disadvantaged backgrounds to study. They need special attention. The government and Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation Education Board run initiatives for these students from time to time. So that these children do not fall behind in any way compared to children studying in private schools, they are provided with all kinds of education and the necessary materials for it free of cost. In order not to lag behind this world of technology, all students are provided with free computer education. Also, all the schools in Mira-Bhayander area pay special attention to the students studying in their schools and try to provide quality education to the students and develop them academically and qualitatively. Due to this, children develop a love for education and today almost no student in Mira-Bhayander city is deprived of education.

Under the initiative of Inclusive Education for all disabled students in Mira-Bhayander city, 1795 students with special needs are given special education by visiting their homes. Various activities are being implemented for these students and 18 special teachers and 4 therapists have been appointed for this. Mentally retarded, multi-talented, Cerebral Palsy, osteophytes, and children who have undergone surgery are found to have muscle and joint defects. Appropriate treatment is given to these students.
